Meterteck Digital Multi-meter (DMM) - Voltmeter, Ohmmeter, Ammeter - 1 Year Guarantee - 2 Test Leads

If you are used to the military voltmeters that are built for a tank to roll over them and keep on ticking then this is not the multi-meter for you. It is light weight and meant for home or light use. It you need a meter to toss in the back of your truck as you move from one job site to another then this is probably not what you want. But if you are a home handy-man or hobbyist then is probably the one you need to consider. I noticed that some reviewers were disappointed in this multi-meter. If you are looking for an expensive meter with very, very accurate readings or one built like a tank then this multi-meter is not for you as it is neither. Meterteck Digital Multi-meter was designed to be sold at a reasonable price and not be taken into battle and used under enemy fire. I have an old non-digital meter that I have used for years and did a comparison of the readings from my old meter to this new Meterteck Digital Multi-meter and found very little difference in the readings.

I like the digital display that can be backlit for use in a dark testing location. With my old unit I would have to look at the scale on the meter and convert to get the actual reading. That is not the case with the Meterteck Digital Multi-meter. The digital display gives the actual reading without any interpretation or conversion.

Since this unit was built for use by amateurs it has an overload feature to protect both you and the meter. Often while using my old meter I would fail to guess the correct settings and would give the needle a workout banging up against the stop post. Not so with the Meterteck Digital Multi-meter. It has not meter or post to bang up against.

A multimeter is an essential tool for any homeowner or hobbist. I’m always getting calls to check out my neighbor’s clothes dryer that suddenly stopped drying. Or my daughters’ car battery that doesn’t seem to have enough power to get her car started. Then there’s the circuit board in our built in oven that went out.  One thing after another where a multi-meter is an indispensable tool.

This Meterteck Digital Multimeter is just what I needed. This unit seems to be very well made, and has a professional feel to it. The included leads are well made and snap securely into the meter. Their 20" length allows you to reach long distances if needed. Included is also a K-type temperature probe. I used this probe to measure the oven temperature of the oven I was working on. It was a handy addition.

In addition to testing voltage, amperage, and resistance this unit has other features. The non-contact voltage detection (NCV) allows you to check to the presence of voltage without using the test leads. The auto off feature keeps the battery from running down in the event that you forget to turn the unit off. And this meter has a built in stand.

I hate most trap doors designed for the battery access in a toy, or a tool. If you move the tool or toy around often you find the batteries on the floor. I prefer batteries in a compartment that screws shut. I’m not losing the batteries then. My old multi-meter came with one flimsy set of test leads that didn’t last all that long so getting and extra set with this Meterteck Digital Multimeter was a bonus.

I received this product for free or at a greatly reduced price in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.  For almost all my purchases I rely on reviews before deciding whether or not I make the purchase. I tend to ignore the reviews about a product where the reviewer raves about an item without giving clear reasons for their conclusions. I likewise pay close attention to reviews that are critical of an item. Customers that are unhappy tend to have a greater motivation to leave a review than does a happy customer. Customers leaving a critical review are often writing out of frustration because they had a bad experience, and they will often point out concerns that are valid that positive reviewers may often glaze over or even ignore. With all reviews, I encourage you to read between the lines. If the review is totally generic and the words could be written for any product then I suggest that you ignore that review. I find reviews often quite valuable, so I strive to leave valuable reviews. If my review helped you in anyway, please take a second to click “Yes” this review helped me.
